En la institución Educativa Distrital de Fontibón, se pretende la construcción de un currículo que articule los estándares de inglés del establecimiento, con los estándares de inglés de la Media Fortalecida, partiendo de los lineamientos curriculares establecidos por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional, donde prevalece el interés por el uso de la lengua extranjera como una herramienta en el proceso de globalización así como de acercamiento a otras culturas. En estos Lineamientos curriculares se establecen una serie de teorías desde qué enseñar, pasando por los enfoques comunicativos, metodologías, estándares, métodos de evaluación , uso de las Tic´s ,hasta la capacitación que necesita el docente. Las temáticas de los planes de estudio tienen un orden natural (Krashen); sin embargo los docentes construyen tales planes de estudio atendiendo las necesidades de los estudiantes a partir de las pruebas diagnósticas.Los estándares de la institución, atendiendo a los estándares impuestos por el MEN se presentan por competencias comunicativa, estratégica, pragmática, gramatical ( Canale-Swain, 1980)así como a la competencia organizativa, pragmática, gramatical, socio-lingüística (Bachman)
