En general una economía envejecida es sinónimo de una economía poco dinámica. Por lo que una posible solución ante una previsible falta de trabajadores en la mayoría de países avanzados son las mejoras en productividad. Y así se compensará la disminución de la producción y de los impuestos.
Pero por otro lado, algunas personas dicen que una disminución de la población en edad de trabajar es una buena noticia para España, ya que permitirá que disminuya el paro. Pero este beneficio sólo funciona en el corto plazo.
En definitiva, el fuerte envejecimiento de la población, que ya es una realidad y que se acentuará todavía más en las próximas décadas, exige adoptar políticas que faciliten la viabilidad financiera de las pensiones. Una solución que pasa por el aumento de la productividad.
El nuevo Gobierno de España se encuentra frente a la necesidad de resolver un problema en el que convergen aspectos demográficos, económicos, sociales y tecnológicos, y que requiere de respuestas inmediatas.
Los representantes del pueblo no pueden seguir esperando de brazos cruzados a ver cómo evoluciona la población. Ya es algo asegurado: viviremos muchos más años.
